Research and Planning : Music Magazine Anaylsis Covers

These magazines are both pop magazines. I am analysing both of these as it will help me understand the type of things that I should put in my magazine.

From these two covers I gathered that a lot of pop magazines have a boy band on the front cover as that's what young girls are interested in. They also all have what I think pretty girly colours to draw the attention that the audience is focusing on.

The main image is also a long shot on both covers to help show the audience the relationship and personalities of the groups rather the groups needing to look good.

The cover lines are also primarily about the lives of people in the pop industry with quotes to gain the attention of the reader and to give them a small look of what's going to be inside by talking about relationships and personal lives of the pop artists.

The overall presentation on the different magazines are different. For example the first magazine I think takes a more professional approach then the second with a neater text and colour scheme, where as the second looks a lot more girly in my opinion.

I want my magazine to look more professional the girly as I think if I was to buy one of the magazines it would be the first one as it fits age group more.

research and Planning: Final mag

I like the final magazine as i think that the picture and mastered fit well to the college purpose. I also think the colours are bright which my interviews told me would work well, however for it to look better i think i should have put more coverlines.

Research and Planning: Contents Draft

Research and Planning: Age group Q and A

1. What kind of things would you like to read on my magazine?
2. What colours should i use?
3. How much would you pay for a college magazine
4. Would either want a fun looking magazine or a proffesional looking one?
5. What kind of fonts would you recommend?

From these i have learnt that the age group that my magazine is aimed for like bold and bright colours on the magazines they buy rather than a professional looking one and the average price i should sell the magazine for is £1. People also would rather have headlines about gossip rather than school related subjects.

Research and Planning: Cover Draft

I chose the bold 'college' title to indicate to the age group of 16-19 that this magazine is aimed at them and will contain information that sould appeal to them. I also picked cover stories that i think college students would relate/find interesting.

Research and Planning: College Magazine Analysis

The target audience is for people around the age 16-18 which i get from the cover lines which i think could relate to that age group as its around subjects that they face. The boy on the cover also seems like a youngish college student which also tells me the age group that this is aimed at. The masterhead says college which clearly indicates that this is about college.

Research and Planning: College similarities

All of these magazines have large titles and pictures which i think have been put there to gain the attention of the college students as they will be draw to things that are bold and that don't look like they need a lot of effort to do. All college magazines contain a masterhead and a picture of a student.

Research and Planning: The walking dead photoshop

To make this i took a picture of Will and cropped it before putting it into a picture of the walking dead cast. Then i blurred out the edges to make it look more realistic to the photo as well as adjusting the colour.

Research + Planning: Skin Tutorial

To do this i used a mixture of the paint and opacity tool. The paint tool to apply the makeup and opacity to make it look less harsh and more realistic.
