Research and Planning: Evaluation Question 4 Planning

This was the drawing of the target audience for my magazine. As I progressed through my magazine I altered this slightly as I thought this was a stereotype of a younger age group whilst I wanted my magazine to be for a slightly older audience. However the clothes that the girl in my drawing still is aiming at the fact that the girls that will be reading my magazine are most likely going to be obsessed with specific celebrities and be extremely interested in the artists in my magazine and what they do. So my age group altered slightly to the age 14-18.

I think that the audience purchasing my magazine would be really interested to read my magazine as that age group are widely into the pop genre and the artists that are involved with it.

I majorly aimed my magazine at girls by putting in coverlines that I thought related to them and picked pictures that I thought they would like as I think girls are more likely to want to follow artists and pop artists especially.

I think that they would mostly get the magazines from corner shops or place like Tesco's that will have them stocked monthly s my magazine is a continuing monthly issue.

I think the main reason my age group would read my magazine is really down to the models used as girls will see the stars they will listen to at home or on the radio and want to read about them as now a lot of girls have things such as fan accounts on twitter and Facebook pages for artists.

Research and Planning: Evalution Script

I made a script to help me with my evaluation question: How does my magazine attract an audience. This was to make sure I covered a lot of subjects and had a base to talk about the features of my magazine.

My magazine attracts and address my audience in different ways. For example I think that the main thing that draws the audience in on the cover page is the huge picture of my model Will in the middle of the page. I think this attracts them as the magazine makes a big deal out of having him in the magazine as he is a big star so lots of fans would want to read it. This was also shown by the “Exclusive interview,” which would attract them. I also think that the free posters bit on the side make them more likely to get my magazine as everyone would want a free poster of their favourite starts. I think that the colours on my cover page really draw attention to the magazine as they are quite bright and are in my opinion make it obvious that the magazine is pop and it would really stand out in shop with other magazines also due to the large fonts that I used to attract young audiences. I think that the cover lines really entice the audience as I think that if I was to look for a magazine I would read cover lines that I thought would help me and interest me which I think mine do as it has the right mix of personal things with also the pop artist element showing a story of Will’s.  I think the layout of my cover page would attract my audience really well as it’s quite packed with a lot going on. I saw this is all the good pop magazines I looked at for research as it made the magazines look like there would be a lot of content inside.

On my double page spread I think it would attract the audience again widely with my model as it is mostly covered with his pictures as he is the main feature of my magazine as he’s supposed to be a mega popstar heartthrob and I think it shows through the way he’s posing in my pictures. I also think that the way the text curves around his arm in the interview is very poppy and is a good change rather than long columns and would interest the audience to see that. I also think that the layout is quite different and would make the audience want to stop for a second and look at the different pictures and poses in them. I think my colours in my double page spread lacked a little compared to the cover page but I think it helped the audience be able to read the interview without getting distracted as they were a lot of images.

I think that the main thing that attracted my audience in my contents page was definitely the text in it as they would read the stories and for the age group that would be reading my magazine they would be really interested to read them. I also highlighted parts of the text that I wanted them to read first to get them more interested in it. I also think the way my model Raine is sat is really fun an poppy which would make the reader want to read more as it looks like she’s inviting them in to red.

Research and Planning: Model Release Forms

For my magazine I had to produce model release forms which was to ensure that if my magazine got released and people wanted to share it then my models would be allowed to have their pictures of the internet for anyone to see.

Research and Planning: Contents Page Progress

This is my contents page so far. I like the masterhead as I think the font fits well well this genre and how it is slanted. I also like the right hand coloumn as I think it looks really pop. The picture of Raine is really happy and cheesy and the placing of it I think looks really good.

On the big blank space I'm going to put a image of the cover page and maybe put arrows to different cover lines and show what page they are. I will also change the font of the bottom column to match the first one.

Research and Planning: Cover Page Progress

This is my cover page for my magazine so far. I like the colour scheme to it as I think it looks really pop and good to the genre.

I think that the pictures used are good for pop as the models look happy and are wearing clothing that are accurate to the genre.

I also like the "See our instagram" bit as I think thats the sort of thing that people who are reading my magazine would want to see.

To complete it I need to sort out the white outline of Paige and add one to Raine as well. I'm not sure whether I like it or not so I may take it all out completely.

I also think I need more cover lines but I just need to plan where I'm going to fit them in.

I also need to add pop artists names at the bottom.

Research and Planning: Pictures of Will for the magazine

I chose Will to be the main model for my magazine as I thought he would be good as I think that he looks quite pop and like he is a singer.

I asked him to wear his jacket as I thought as it could help make him look like a typical heartthrob as I had previously  seen pictures of Justin Bieber on a magazine that I got inspiration from.

The first three pictures were used in my double page spread. I chose them as I thought they had  the right amount of pop while still showing Will as a cheeky personality, that I learnt from my research as being what young girls look for in boys in pop magazines.

 I used this imagine for the main picture on my double page spread as I thought it looked extremely pop and would look good in contrast to the other three. I also like the way he is holding his jacket as it makes him look more laid back and shows that the photoshoot may have been fun. He also doesn't look serious which is what girls want to see instead of a picture where the person looks quite bored.

Research + Planning: Audience Feedback of Draft

This is the audience feedback of my magazine and how it's looking at the moment. From it I understood that the pop genre is clear which is good as it helps me keep making the magazine as I know the fonts i'm using are accurate. 

I also got feedback on the layout and how the use of pictures i'm using are good as it helps with the genre.

Differences I made from this and my cover page now is that some of the pictures were altered or moved to make the magazine look more fun and proffesional.

Research and Planning: Progression of Magazine

On my magazine I have made some changes and looked closer at magazines such as Top of the Pops to adapt my magazine to fitting the genre better.

 On these magazines I noticed that the outfits people were wearing are either white/ pink or bright colours. I also noticed that they are all overly cheesy so my main priority at the moment is to take lots of pictures.

Such as:
-Lots of different types of make-up, clothes, accessories
-Lots of pictures (medium close ups and close ups). All of the pictures need to be cheesy and show excitement.
